After installing a Heizomat woodchip boiler, David and Louis saw an emerging market in producing biomass fuels and used their extensive knowledge and experience in sustainable timber to establish 3 Counties Wood Fuels in 2012. Going from strength to strength, as well as running the harvesting business and producing biofuel, in 2024 Chalford Silviculture was born. We at 3 Counties Woodfuels (also part of the Chalford Group) pride ourselves in providing quality wood chip for the public, private and commercial sectors. We produce all of our own chip from timber which has been harvested by us from local sustainable woodlands; this ensures both the traceability and quality for every chip we supply. We have extensive knowledge of the wood chip industry which we can pass on to our clients to ensure they have the optimum supply for their biomass system. We make all our premium biomass wood chip from virgin timber which is harvested by us, then transported to our Herefordshire depot. It is then chipped and stored in large covered storage barns, free from any source of contamination. The standard chip that we offer is grade P16s, with a typical moisture content of 25% or below. Wood chip can be collected from our depot or delivered to a customer’s site using a number of different systems depending on location, case of vehicle access and size of load.
