In the United States few names are as popular as John Deere. Going beyond tractors, this brand has become a cultural icon in the southern US appearing in songs, on clothing, and its infamous green and yellow can often be seen as decoration in and around houses. While the cultural brand has become legendary, John Deere also has the heavy machinery to back it up. There isn’t an agricultural industry that John Deere doesn't have a hand in. Deere’s most popular models split between the grain industry’s John Deere S670 combine harvester and a machine that has various uses in every agricultural industry, the John Deere 7530 tractor. Like most tractors, the 7530 can be fitted with a myriad of different attachments, buckets, and loaders on both the front and back, allowing it to be the most popular and widely useful machine.

The grain industry has come a long way since doing all harvesting by hand. A perfect example of this is New Holland’s CR10.90 the world’s biggest, most efficient agricultural harvester yet. The CR10.90 boasts a 16-liter-6 diesel power plant engine that produces a breathtaking 652 horsepower output. This majestic machine also sports a 22-inch diameter cutting head along with 410 bushel grain tank. In terms of productivity the CR10.90 cranks out an impressive 4 bushel per second (144,000 per hour) unloading speed. Most people think driving tractors is a hot sweaty job, but not for the operator of this giant. The CR10.90 comes fitted comfortable seating, air-condition, a drink cooler, and a touch screen control panel. With both efficiency and luxury, this harvester dominates the grain industry. Many standard mowers attachments for tractors can take days to mow large chunks of acreage. To remedy this problem, Claas developed the Cougar 1400. While the average tractor mower ranges from 8-10 feet of cutting, the Cougar spans a whopping 46 feet of cutting area. Unlike tractor attachments, the Cougar is designed specifically for mowing with its 5 mowing attachments joined to the front of the machine. This incredible spread reportedly allowed one Cougar to mow more than 20,000 acres in one season, something that would take 2 of most mower combinations. When looking for the biggest, most well-rounded machine look no further than the Case IH Steiger Series 620 TR. Stretching 25 feet long and weighing a hefty 33 tons it easily leads as the greatest machine of its kind. With four different wheel or track options, combined with a 682 horsepower engine, the 620 TR is fit for virtually any agricultural terrain. The dynamic functionality of this machine allows for it to pull attachments such as tillers, mowers, sprayers, and trailers.

The most commonly recognized piece of heavy machinery across the world is the tractor. The tractor derives its name from the word “traction” because its goal is to maximize tractive effort, the ability to deliver force while staying grounded. Tractors utilize hundreds of different types of attachments such as backhoes, loaders, fertilizer rigs, mowers, tillers, and many other additions that aid in farm work. In the hay production industry machines such as forest harvesters, round balers, square balers, are used to collect and shape hay for transportation and the market. When it comes to prepare the ground for an new crop or destroying the old, farmers look to machines such as tillers, harrows, and cultivators that use discs or rods that run along the ground and “till” up the soil. When a wheat or grain crop is ready to be harvested, farmers lean on a combine harvesters automated grain harvesting process that gathers the rows of grains, cuts them from their stalks, send them on a conveyor belt, and transports the fields output to be stored. One part of of the agricultural process that is often overlooked in the public eye is the role that fertilizer applicators sprayers play in crop production. Fertilizing machines such as mineral spreaders and manure spreaders disperse their contents in order to the help fuel the plants into optimal growth. Similarly, sprayers can spread liquid fertilizer to plants and trees. More commonly though, sprayers are used to spray insecticides and pesticides on crops to help prevent bugs and diseases from destroying the plants.

In the United States there are many agricultural events throughout the year that pertain to the agricultural industry and heavy equipment. One of the biggest and most popular events is the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo. Sunbelt features over 1.6 million square feet of exhibit space filled with displays from brands like John Deere, Massey Ferguson, Kubota and 1200 more! The expo also features 600 acres of working farm where hands-on displays are done. The next event will take place October 16-18 in Moultrie, Georgia where the event management is expecting over 80,000 visitors looking to learn and make connections throughout the agricultural industry.

When needs arise on your farm it can be difficult to locate the perfect machine for the job locally. Thankfully websites like Mascus allow farmers to search across the world to find the exact machine they need to be delivered to their land. Conversely, if you have used heavy machinery from previous agricultural endeavors that is no longer being used, Mascus also provides the perfect platform to sell your used heavy equipment. Go to the registration page on mascus.com to get started getting your tractor in front of thousands of potential buyers.
