Both variants are equipped with a John Deere 8.1L 6-cyl diesel engine and two batteries of 12 volt. 8400, slightly bigger than previous 8300, measures 116.1 inches in wheelbase and weighs from 18709 to 29562 pounds. It is moderately big, but it can still easily fit any garage. It is also equipped with 4x4 MFWD 4WD chassis and 3/3N three-point hitch controlled with electro-hydraulic draft sensing. John Deere 8400’s claimed PTO equals 225 hp and was tested at 252.21 hp, while the power on drawbar was tested at 202.28 hp. As a standard both variants of John Deere 8400 come with CommandView Cab, while optionally they can also have Row-track guidance.
